What can you do to prevent a fall?

6/29/2011

The Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) offer these tips.

  1. Exercise regularly. Learn Tai Chi—a low-impact exercise that promotes strength and balance.
Or choose another fun activity that keeps you active.
  2. Review your medications. Visit with your doctor about reducing side effects and interactions that may
    cause drowsiness and dizziness.
  3. Have your vision checked. Get an eye exam yearly and update your prescription so you can get the
    most out of your glasses.
  4. Make your home safer. Install handrails and grab bars, turn lights on when entering a room and remove
    tripping hazards like throw rugs.
